Having spent our first night sailing in the Atlantic, the wind
was kind and a decent 10-13 mps. However we didn’t managed
to survive the night without minor problems, on a number of occasion
we all had to get up to adjust the sails. 24-hour sailing, 170.5
miles

Around 9AM captain yelled “We have a catch”. We all
ran to the deck. We had set a fishing rod in the rear end of the
boat and now we had our first catch. Some unlucky creature from
the deep. Our prey was a 70-80cm Gold Mackerel, which we knocked
out in the traditional manner by feeding it a healthy shot of vodka.
We, the predators, settled for a few Heinekens. The day was mainly
pleasant, except for the fact one of our sails was too weak for
these conditions and ruptured, which is unfortunate as we will lose
the advantage later. 24-hour sailing, 173 miles

In the morning we found we had sailed far towards the south, the
temperature was already 24C at 9am. It was a very relaxing day with
a wind of only 6-7 mps. The highlight of the day was the dinner,
our chef cooked yesterdays mackerel catch. The key to a great dinner
was simplicity; fish in the frying pan, bit of oil and pinch of
a salt and pepper, Perfect!! 24-hour sailing, 173 miles.
